Quality Accommodations & Cleanliness - All of our cabins have wireless internet to your cabin and cable TV - are non-smoking and pet free. 12 of our 18 units are six yrs old or newer and have air conditioning. We give ourselves plenty of time to clean, clean, clean and make any necessary repairs between guests due largely to our check-in after 9am on Sat and check out the following Friday before 11am.
 
2. The Perfect Size Lake - Over 2000 acres - large enough for fishing and water sports, but more peaceful than a chain of lakes.

If you're looking for a quiet family resort, Shing Wako is located on Lake Edward in the Brainerd Area of north central Minnesota near Nisswa and Crosslake. Our 11 well-groomed acres and a beautiful sandy beach make it the perfect place for your family to relax and spend time together.
 
We have 14' fishing boats, a 18' deluxe boat and 2 new pontoons available to rent. Fishing on Lake Edward features walleye, northern pike, sunfish, crappies, small and largemouth bass. Responsible jet skiing is allowed.
 
At Shing Wako Resort, we offer a variety of family activities. Included in these activities are kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, swimming tubes and life jackets for fun at the beach. All are included in your cabin rental. Lake Edward is over 2000 acres in size, large enough to water ski comfortably. The beach area is a very gradual sand slope ideal for swimming, building sand castles or just relaxing in the sun. Schedule a massage at the resort or experience bird watching.
 
Fun on the land includes playgrounds, horseshoes, volleyball, tetherball and basketball. Large grassy areas accommodate lawn games, football, baseball and catch to name a few. Games and assorted sports equipment are available at the office.

Shing Wako History
The name, Shing Wako, was derived from the Ojibwe word, zhingwaakoog, for White Pines. In the 1930's there were many white pines in our area and the locals referred to them as Shing Wak's.
