If you're looking for a
quiet family resort - get away to our
Brainerd Resort.
Shing Wako Resort has 11
well-groomed acres and a beautiful sandy beach which makes it the
perfect place for your family to relax and spend time
together.
Lake Edward which is over 2000 acres with a great sandy
swimming beach that we are proud to say has clear water,
sand bottom and a very gradual depth - great for kids and
adults alike! There is with plenty of room to fish or water
ski and responsible jet skiing is allowed here! Our
paddleboats, kayaks, canoe and swimming tubes are included
with your cabin rental. Our beach is sizeable with lots of
room for building sandcastles.
Speaking of fishing you never know what might be on the end
of your line! Lake Edward has walleye, northern pike, large
and small mouth bass, sunfish and crappies! The lake is oval shaped and about two miles
across north and south and one mile east & west. We have a
fish cleaning house by the lake and freezer space available
should you need it. Licenses and bait can be purchased in
Merrifield just 4 miles south of us on County Road 3. We
sell gas and oil here and will personally gas up your boat
for you at the dock.
Enjoy all the green space around two playgrounds, horseshoe
pits, volleyball, tetherball and a basketball court. There
is lots of room to play bocce ball, baseball and other
outdoor games. Just outside of our office we have sports
equipment to share.
Geocaching has become very popular in our
area. We have GPS units available for loan in our office and
caches hidden at our resort so you can practice
and win a prize! Here is the

our own lakes area Paul &
Babe's GeoHunt

It was to surprise how many guests were teaching their kids
how to ride their bicycles here - now we promote it as it
was such a good idea with the time and space you will have.
Then grandma, uncle or auntie can run behind the bike a few
times too!
Let the kids have good old fashioned fun catching (and
releasing) frogs, minnows, turtles and viewing other
wildlife. Bird watching has been
very popular as we have the lake, wetlands and higher ground
with deciduous and pine trees providing habitat for a large
variety of birds. By our office we have feeders, water and
examples of some of the birds we see here.
Our sunsets have been enjoyed and photographed since the
resort opened in 1937!
Enjoy sharing time with each other around your own campfire.
We sell campfire wood here at the resort and deliver it to
you personally to your fire ring. We encourage you to burn
our firewood, our purchase locally, to help reduce the
spread of pests from bringing wood in from other areas.
You can also schedule a massage
and it will be provided for you right at our resort!
In case of a rainy day you can take a nap (nothing like a
nap at the lake) or we do have cable TV and wireless
internet in all of our cabins.
Brainerd
MN has many fun things to help visitors have fun and
unwind. In and around our office and
laundry room (which also doubles as a storm shelter) we have
board games and movies to borrow and magazines and books to
trade, share or keep. We also sell ice, candy, ice cream
novelties and clothing in our office. |
